It emerges he is page to Lord Montagu, right-hand man to the Duke of Buckingham. What message does he carry, how will he get it to its destination and how will this affect the history of Louis XIII? He crosses paths with the infamous Richelieu and has cause to call on him several times during this historical romance, with the backdrop of the siege of La Rochelle and the dismantling of Protestantism in France.
