Audiobook
Poetically descriptive, this true-to-nature adventure story of a family of otter in southern England endears the animals to the reader without endowing them with human features. Penned by a painstaking naturalist, it provides a detailed and exciting water-level view of rural landscapes and wildlife that is still relevant today. The language of Devon is unique and lovely in its sounds and colours. Tarka the Otter was made into film in 1979. It has been a rallying point for animal rights activists. Hunting otter is now illegal, but there are still hunts in England along the same rivers as before.(Summary by Czandra)
