Audiobook
Klara Stroebe was a noted collector of Scandinavian folk and fairy tales in the 19th Century. Many of these were translated into English and published by Frederick Herman Martens. These are 28 selected "Swedish" fairy tales, part of Stroebe's larger collection in Swedish. Martens wrote that he selected these particular stories for translation into English because he felt they appeared most colorful and entertaining for young readers and also most Swedish in their "flavor". Martens made no attempt to rewrite these tales in their translation, so the Swedish flavor appears to be retained. They were faithfully narrated in the simple, naive manner of their traditional rendering. (Summary by Hox)
