We again follow Marion, this time as a school teacher teamed up with the strong and adventurous Florence Ormsby, in the Cumberland Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Realizing the sorry state in which the mountain people's school had become - both physically and educationally - the girls decide to do their best to gain money and provide their talents to improve things on Pine Mountain. However, not all the local mountain folk are interested in improvement, and seem to stop at nothing to thwart them. Follow along for a heart-warming adventure of courage and caring that shows how quality of character will help improve the lives of self and others.
