Among the guests is Mr. McCarty (a retired police officer), his friend Mr. Riordan (a fireman), Wade Terhune ( an investigative professor) and Victor Marchal who is Mr. Norwood’s secretary and was blinded in the war. This group as well as the official police led by Inspector Druet attempt to unravel the mystery of who perpetrated this crime and why.
