Marvellous and Incredible Adventures of Charles Thunderbolt in the Moon

Charles Rumball

Some years ago, Charles Thunderbolt underwent some most extraordinary adventures almost beyond belief. The Hero of this tale through my medium is about to record them in black and white, for the edification of children, of all ranks and countries; and, should any of my readers be persons, who have long ago bid adieu to the time of Childhood, (which time many would fain recall) let them imagine themselves of tender age again ; then, however improbable the contents of the following pages may appear, if the readers stretch their imagination to some extent, they will feel lenient towards the author, by reason of the easily pleased nature of childhood ; and let me hope, that if they do assume the spirit and feeling of infantine simplicity, they may be full of its good nature and willingness to be amused. - Summary excerpted from Introduction to the book by the author
