Audiobook
"A tall, slim girl, 'half-past sixteen,' with serious gray eyes and hair which her friends called auburn, had sat down on the broad red sandstone doorstep of a Prince Edward Island farmhouse one ripe afternoon in August, firmly resolved to construe so many lines of Virgil." So begins the second book in the Anne of Green Gables series, the story of a imaginative, redheaded orphan. Anne Shirley is a bold, tempered, imaginative and talkative young lady who has entertained generations of children and adults alike. In Anne of Avonlea, Anne starts teaching at the Avonlea school. She has decided to not attend college, although she will still continue her studies at home with Gilbert, who is teaching at the White Sands School nearby. (Summary by Woolly Bee)
